For more than sixty years, we have been working with some of England’s most disadvantaged, disaffected and forgotten young people, providing challenge and inspiration, building confidence and helping them to take control of their future. Building on the skills of our founders, the team that conquered Everest, we now use all kinds of activities - from rock climbing and canoeing to drama and film making – to challenge, inspire and motivate. We give young people the skills they need to face their problems, tackle them head-on and succeed where they may have previously failed. We empower them to conquer their fears, to express themselves, to trust and respect others. We equip them to become better citizens, making a positive contribution to their communities and our society.

Endeavour Programme Offer

Endeavour delivers a range of programmes aimed at engaging young people. Each programme includes an element of Personal Development, Education and Social Action. In addition to this, each programme includes a range of activities and experiences designed to either challenge the young people (encouraging them to step out of their comfort zone) or expand their horizons by showing them the range of possibilities available to them. Funded programmes may have additional outcomes as determined by the funder.  

The basic ethos of Endeavour’s Programme Offer is around ‘respect’ and ‘having a go’. Staff are expected to be ‘relentlessly reasonable’.

You may be required to travel within the region as part of your work

Travel Allowances:

Mileage is paid a 45p per mile

Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974

Child Protection

This post does involve direct work with young people, and the workplace has programmes which are delivered to young people aged 14 upwards.  Please note you will be asked to complete an enhanced DBS check if you are successful at interview.

Level 2 Literacy

Qualification appropriate to occupational area.

Some form of relevant Youth Work, Teaching, Group Leadership or Development Training qualification.

Ability to communicate and engage with a variety of young people in particular those who have English as an additional language and those with mild to moderate learning difficulties.

Ability to work with local communities and their members.

Effective personal organisation.

Good oral and written presentation skills.

Full driving license.

Cert Ed / PGCE

QTS

Subject specific qualification e.g. NVQ, degree etc.

Outdoor qualifications

NGB sports/activity leadership awards.

A 'good' or 'outstanding' Ofsted judgement of a session.

D1 license

Experience

A minimum of three years’ experience of working effectively with young people.

Experience of developing and delivering innovative and inspiring sessions.

Development of life skills.

Understanding of issues relating to young people.

Experience of working within an (educational) setting with young people with barriers to engagement (this may include ESOL, mental health, SEN) and / or exhibiting challenging behaviour and / or not able to cope in a mainstream setting.

Experience of working with families.

 

Evidence of constructive work in the community especially outreach.

Using the outdoors and adventurous activities as a development tool. 

Understanding of youth work issues.

Experience of interpreting exam specifications or programmes of study and delivering accordingly.

Experience of working to OFSTED criteria.

Experience of delivering qualifications and preparing for moderation.

Experience of delivering cookery sessions.

Experience of engaging employers and corporate supporters.

Experience of producing ILP’s for young people and maintaining them.
