We firmly believe that the myriad benefits of taking part in expeditions should be available to all people regardless of their socio-economic status. Expeditions create opportunities for participants to explore new places, both geographically and psychologically – they literally and metaphorically broaden horizons. Expeditions create wonderful opportunities to explore communal living and engage with new cultures. Skills, knowledge and insights gained on expeditions are immediately transferable to participant’s wider lives.
Endeavour has a long and proud history of running expeditions to far flung parts of the globe. Find out more about the many expeditions we've done over the years here.
Expeditions do not have to be so remote, however, to provide wonderful opportunities to participants. In recent years we have taken expeditions on tall ships around the coast of the UK. This type of expedition really throws people together in a challenging and demanding situation where close teamwork is essential and from which there is literally no escape. Rather than jump overboard, staff and participants often sit up late into the night talking through the issues facing the group. Whilst draining, this is often immensely rewarding and can lead to huge leaps in mutual understanding, trust and tolerance. Rapid development in responsibility and maturity often result from such experiences.
In 2021, we are looking to revive and refresh our expedition programme. We have obtained funding to lead several groups on expeditions in the UK and abroad. We have already chartered a tall ship for an expedition that will leave Ipswich in the summer half term. We also have plans to take a group on a walking expedition across Torridon. We are continuing to work closely with enthusiastic groups to develop ideas for, fundraise for and plan further expeditions.
Endeavour have a number of experienced staff who can plan and lead a variety of types of expedition. Furthermore, we have a skilled bank of freelance leaders who can facilitate any other conceivable expedition. If you are interested in working with us to plan an expedition for the benefit of your participants please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
