We understand that therapeutic connections in nature are particularly helpful for young people with ADHD (who find it easier to regulate in natural environments), so we use this in our AP and programmes where appropriate. Through connecting with other animals, our young people can explore how they form connections with others and they recognise that this also works as a means of soothing and regulating. We encourage sensory play as often as possible, particularly in water! This encourages immersive learning experiences and the experience of ‘flow’. Where appropriate, we link this into more structured conservation work through the John Muir Award scheme.
