Time to Thrive, Time to Recharge

At Endeavour, we believe every child deserves opportunities to have fun, make friends, build confidence and enjoy new experiences. Our Short Breaks provision offers enriching activities for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), while also providing families and carers with valuable time to rest, recharge and focus on their own wellbeing.

Our sessions are designed to be safe, welcoming and inclusive, enabling children and young people to enjoy meaningful experiences in an environment where they are understood, supported and celebrated.

What Are Short Breaks?

Short Breaks provide children and young people with opportunities to take part in activities that match their interests, develop independence and social skills, and enjoy time with their peers. At the same time, they give parents and carers a regular break from caring responsibilities, helping to strengthen family wellbeing and resilience.

Research and local services recognise that Short Breaks play an important role in supporting families, reducing isolation and helping children access activities they may otherwise find difficult to attend. Information from Sheffield's SNIPS service highlights the importance of enabling children to participate in inclusive activities whilst providing carers with a break from their caring responsibilities.

Experienced and Supportive Staff

Our team understands that every child is unique. Staff receive specialist training and have experience supporting children and young people with a wide range of additional needs. We work closely with families to understand each child's strengths, interests and support requirements, ensuring they can access activities safely and successfully.

Supporting the Whole Family

We know that caring for a child with additional needs can be rewarding, but it can also be demanding. Short Breaks provide families with the opportunity to:

  • - Take time to rest and recharge
  • - Spend time with siblings and other family members
  • - Attend appointments or personal commitments
  • - Maintain their own wellbeing
  • - Feel supported as part of a wider community

Our aim is not only to support children and young people, but to help families thrive.
